The Women's Missionary Society is a corporate body of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  It is an international body and as such, consists of various levels including  the Connectional, the District, the Conference  and the Local. This great body boasts of over 800,000 women. We welcome women of all ages.

Sons of Allen

In 1984, the African Methodist Episcopal Church created the Sons of Allen Men’s Fellowship to foster closer relationships between men of the church, to equip men of the church for meaningful service, to reach unchurched men, and to present positive role models for our youth. The Sons of Allen has grown into an important connectional movement over the past twenty-plus years and the Fellowship is becoming a true connectional ministry. The challenges and disturbing realities facing African American men call for a response from the church.

Bro. Charles McDonald, President

Lay Organization

The Lay Organization brings forth and live a ministry of service and witness. Our organization is very similar in make up to the organization of the founding fathers and mothers whose only dream was that of representation and being a part of the governance of the great Zion. We have awakened to a heterogeneous area of service and service related demands. The Lay Organization of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and our ministry must not just be here for a moment, but we must go beyond the walls of our established circles and comfort zones. This will force us to take a long hard look at our organization and see if we are up to the challenge.

Allenites

The Allenites involves young people from the ages of 1 - 10. The Allenites Director works in consultation with the YPD Director.

Stewardesses

Women contributed greatly to the ministry of the church. As a response to these realities, the 1868 General Conference decided to organize a new title in the Church called “Stewardess” in which women were appointed in the church to serve other women. This was the first official role for women in the AME Church. The role of the stewardess had no power to legislate, but were assistants and looked after the women in the AME church.
